עֲלַבch. sam(עלבto press upon; to arrogate superiority; to humiliate, insult). Ithpa. אִתְעַלֵּב, Ithpe. אִתְעֲלֵב 1) to humble ones self, submit. Targ. 1 Kings 12:7 (h. text תהיה עבד). 2) (v. עוּלְבַּן) to raise ones self above; to jest, sneer at (= h. התעלל). Targ. Jud 19:25 ed. Lag., v. לְעַב. Targ. 1 Sam. 31:4 ed. Lag.
